that when I got into the cab to take me home from work tonight and the cabby turned around and asked me with a knowing voice "Accountant or lawyer?", I chose to answer with "Doctor".

I'm just going to put down what I'm thinking about right now again. Yeah, that works for me.
Number One.
How much Fergie's "Glamourous" song annoys me. Have you listed to this? Could she speak any worse? She doesn't even sing glamourous half the time, she says "glamouwiss". Most. Annoying. Song. Ever.
Number Two.
No that's it really.
It's late and I'm tired.
Nighty night.

but because it's late, I'm tired, I should call Corinne before she stops missing me, this story will have to wait for another night, another time.
Toodles.
Toodles.
I love the fact that it's 11pm and even though I've been up since 5am, I am so wired I will not be able to sleep. I also love that when I do eventually go to bed, I will for some reason be unable to disassociate myself from work.
Take last night for instance. I tossed and turned and tossed and turned all night, absolutely stressing about a position I was recruiting for, a sales contract administrator. In Brisbane it's a real tight candidate market and we are having troubles finding suitable applicants for most of our positions.
You know what? I am not even recruiting for a sales contract administrator right now? You know what else?? WE DON'T EVEN HAVE THOSE IN OUR COMPANY!!

Weekend was fabulous, fabulous fabulous! Had netball up on the Sunshine Coast, so asked mumma to come with me for the game so I didn't have to do the 2.5 hour drive back in the dark by myself. She had a better idea, why not just stay up there for the weekend?? Why not indeed! So we did. It was great, the weather was fantastic and I did what I hadn't done in almost three years- I surfed. I had forgotten how amazing it feels...even though I was crap and only managed to stay on a couple of times and even then not for very long, the feeling you get is probably only second to the feeling I get when I'm skiing. Just you and the elements, or something along those lines anyway! But yeah, it was great. I have been making big plans to get up and hit the coast early on Saturday mornings as I used to do in years gone past, but this today there is a very big nip in the air, it's quite chilly. D'oh. It's probably only 18 degrees, but here, where it doesn't get much below 10 somehow that feels as cold as say 8 degrees would in Switzerland- weird!
Tomorrow Ryan has a 5 hour stopover in Brisbane on his way home from middle-of-nowhere, QLD so he's coming into the city to have lunch with me and I am so excited. Next week it will be a year since I've actually seen him so can't wait!
Am BUGGERED from my sadistic personal trainer this evening. We did a boxing circuit and it feels like a thousand knives are piercing my shoulders...owwwwwwwwww but I'm sure tomorrow morning I will feel great! Really enjoying going to the gym these days, starting to regain my fitness levels a bit which is really good, it will help me heaps in my netball games!
Speaking of netball, our game on Saturday night was just so out there it wasn't funny! We were thumping the other team by about 16 goals, and one of the boys on the other team did not like this one bit, so every time I got the ball to shoot he would say things like "She's the weak link!" or "She's got nothing, she can't shoot, get her rebound!" and crap like that, trying to put me off. Was getting riled up by him...and then, when I caught the ball in the back of the court and had turned and was about to release the ball he came in and cleaned me up and tried to pretend he'd been going for the ball that was passed to me when I'd had possession of it for about 2 seconds already. Whatever. I was naughty though. When the umpire turned her back I smacked him and screamed at him not to pull that shit again. He didn't!!

Any of you know anywhere that me and evil twin can stay in Byron over Easter??
Anyone??
Wait, do you guys know where Byron is?? lol. Probably not.
WE ARE DESPERATE!! Nowhere to stay. Boo.
Lost netball tonight, my wheels totally fell off during the game for some reason. I lost all confidence and could not shoot for shite, it really sucked and was a bit embarrassing. Luckily the other girls in the team are heaps nice and told me not to worry but I felt really bad :-(

Life in Australia is floating on.
Spent the past weekend with my two best friends Emma and Nicole, two of the girls I lived with in Canada. We were up in Noosa for the wedding of another of our roommates, Case to her adorable boyfriend Adrian.
Got to say, this was the most amazing wedding ever! I loved it.
Was initially a little put off by the 9am start, but we rose admirably to the occasion and were ready and at the beach for the wedding by 8:45. Great idea to have it that early, as the day was a scorcher! But anyway, the wedding itself was on a tiny patch of grass behind Casey's parents house looking right over the beach and it was just beautiful. Case was stunning, and everyone was fine until we looked at the groom as Case was walking down the aisle only to see him sobbing his heart out- sooooo cute! It was a gorgeous ceremony and the reception was a walk of about 1500mts up the boardwalk and to the end of the beach.
The call of the day had to come from the random lady who walked past Em, Nic and I at about 10am, when we were heading to the reception and in our eyes stunning dressed up for a wedding, when she turned to her husband and said "farkkkkkkk they must have had a huge night!". Fair call, I guess you probably don't normally see girls walking along the beach in formal attire at 10am, but what can you do?
The reception was also amazing, held in a restaurant that overlooked the beach. Had a brilliant table, us three girls and all the boys that Case had lived with in London. Best table placement ever!! We were VERY happy :D
After the reception finished at 3pm, we headed across the river to the beautiful Sheraton to kick on and then after this, somewhat worse for wear up the hill to the fantastic Koala backpacker's bar. Again, a little overdressed and probably way more drunk than we had a right to be at 8:30pm, but hell, we had a ball!
Was great to see the girls again, I've been really feeling it here lately. I am not enjoying anything like the social life I was used to in Geneva and was starting to feel desperately lonely and like I'd made a huge mistake coming home.
Hopefully, starting my new job with all of my old close workfriends tomorrow will help with that...fingers crossed anyway.
I've also promised to play superleague netball again- it's basically like a premier league. After nearly 3 years out of the competition, I had no intention of going back to play but my friend is the coach and put it to me, so I decided to try it out again. Hope the ankle holds up- I'm not really supposed to be playing anymore. Fingers crossed. Hopefully, I will meet heaps of new people through this as well, as I realised that netball did form a huge part of my social life before I left Australia.
In other news, have joined the gym and start tomorrow morning at the ungodly hour of 5:30am. Ughhhhhhh. But really need to do something, I'm starting to hate the sight of myself and I'm sure everyone around me is sick of me whinging.
Off to get my beauty sleep for work tomorrow- I'm SO looking forward to having a real job, it's going to be great.
Love to all- miss you and think of everyone often.

I have a proper job! I'm so excited about it. After pfaffing about for these past three weeks going on interviews and trying to decide what I want to do with my life, today I went for a final "interview" with my old boss Stacey's new boss, at their new company.
The office is right in the heart of Brisbane, in absolutely GORGEOUS offices with a view to die for- across the river and all the way to the coast...pity my office will not be facing this view, but I still get a pretty nice view across the city and all the parks and things, so I'm pretty happy.
Anyway, they are throwing a shedload of money at me, way more than I thought to ask for, and they are giving me a laptop! Very very excited to start. Just finish up my government contract, then start with these guys two weeks from tomorrow. Seems like a great environment-and its funny, just about every single person I was close friends with at my last Brisbane job, the "inner circle" if you will, is now at Meredien so its going to be happy days socially again.
We've already planned a trip to Byron Bay at Easter to the Eastcoast Blues and Roots Festival and to see my future husband Ben Harper again. Third time's the charm, this time he will be mine ;)
Anyway, not much else to report apart from that. I'm taking my Dad to the cricket on Friday afternoon to see us demoralize the English, can't freaking wait. We have awesome tickets, 10 rows up from the field and we are sitting with The Aussie Fanatics, the Aussie version of the Balmy Army. The sweet thing is that our ticket price includes Fanatics t-shirts, and we are right across the aisle from the Balmy Army so that we can heckle them all day/night. Can't freaking wait to wipe the slate with them again! The only sad part is that Ricky Ponting's being rested, but I hope Brett Lee plays- he is my one and only star pash...long story short but when I was a lot younger and a lot more innocent (and it should probably be noted, a whole lot hotter too), I ended up in his hotel room with him and the then captain of Australia who had passed out sleeping...hee hee. Nothing happened except a few kisses but still. He's pretty adorable!! Fcuk, that was nearly ten years ago. Time flies...
But yeah, the cricket's going to be awesome on Friday. All I have to do at work is make up the 3.25 hours I'm going to miss as flex time. This means that for the next three days, instead of starting at 8 I have to start at 9. Not because there's any burning need for me to do this, or any piles of work I have to plow my way through, but it seems to me, just for the purpose of sitting there and just making the hours up. I'm not kidding, I will literally just be sitting there for the sake of it.
Ah well, only 8 more work days to go til my new job. :-)

I found this the other day, and in light of my current profession and how much this seems to mirror it, I thought I'd share by posting.
I still don't know what I'm supposed to be doing!
The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed down from generation to generations, says that when you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount.
In the public sector however, a whole range of far more advanced strategies have evolved and are often employed.
1. Change riders.
2. Buy a stronger whip.
3. Do nothing: "This is the way we have always ridden dead horses".
4. Visit other countries to see how they ride dead horses.
5. Perform a productivity study to see if lighter riders improve the dead horse's performance.
6. Hire a contractor/consultant to ride the dead horse.
7. Provide additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse's performance.
8. Harness several dead horses together in an attempt to increase the speed.
9. Appoint a committee to study the horse and assess how dead it actually is.
10. Reclassify the dead horse as "living impaired".
11. Develop a Strategic Plan for the management of dead horses.
12. Rewrite the expected performance requirements for all horses.
13. Modify existing standards to include dead horses.
14. Declare that, as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overheads and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line than many other horses.
15. Promote the dead horse to a supervisory position (although the competition for these positions is fierce).

Heading to the Gold Coast for New Year's tomorrow.
I HATE the Gold Coast, it is full of 18 year old siliconed, bleached bitches and hoes. Yay. Hopefully we will be staying right away from Surfer's Paradises though, that's the skankiest of skank, we are at Main Beach which is a little further down the coast so hopefully a little quieter.
Going with Stace and some of the old FKP crew, including Michele, the girl who nearly got me arrested by pushing me in front of a police car in September! Fuck I love her though, she's awesomely funny. We are going to a beach party on NYE, should be a fun night hopefully!

In Japan and sooooooo bored right now.
Nearly didn:t make my flight here due to fog at Heathrow my original flight from Geneva was delayed by 4 hours!
And I just left my mp3 player by itself and someone handed it in but i had to go through a long process of playing music and looking for something before I could get anyone to understand what I:d lost. Eventually I got it back though, so no dramas.
This officially has to be the most boring airport ever there is nothing to look at here! Anyway, about to go and get my final flight home. This keyboard keeps changing things to Japanese and I am not loving it. Bye Bye!
